The recipients of this season’s 2026 BASCOL Medal of Merit.

Luxembourgish corporate basketball, through BASCOL, has grown and strengthened its reputation thanks to the exceptional commitment of several individuals who dedicated many years of service to the association and to corporate sports.

Ivano Lotti, a former CFL player, made a significant impact on BASCOL through his experience, leadership, and passion for sports. His constant dedication, vision, and the values he embodies — discipline, team spirit, and commitment — greatly contributed to the development and long-term sustainability of Luxembourgish corporate basketball. In recognition of his outstanding achievements and exemplary commitment, he was awarded the title of Honorary President of BASCOL as well as the BASCOL Medal of Merit.

For more than 35 years, Daniel Philippy managed the association’s accounts with great rigor, responsibility, and professionalism. His discreet yet essential work ensured the sound and efficient management of BASCOL. In recognition of his loyal service and valuable contribution, he was awarded the BASCOL Medal of Merit.

The Black Lions Dudelange club proposed the candidacy of Tom Schroeder for this distinction. As a player, coach, and later President of BASCOL following Ivano Lotti, Tom Schroeder continued to develop the association with enthusiasm and determination. Through his unifying spirit, innovative ideas, and personal dedication, BASCOL continued to evolve in an atmosphere of friendliness, professionalism, and passion. His commitment was recognized with the BASCOL Medal of Merit.

The BASCOL committee also honored Nico Vesque, from the BBC BIL club, for more than 25 years dedicated to auditing the association’s accounts and finances. Through his professionalism, rigor, and constant commitment, he played an essential role in ensuring the sound financial management of BASCOL, earning him the BASCOL Medal of Merit.

Finally, the AS CFL club proposed the candidacy of Georges Wolter in recognition of his commitment and his many contributions to the club. Over the years, he held several important positions within AS CFL, including player, secretary, treasurer, and president during the past decade. Through his dedication and continuous involvement, he greatly contributed to the development and stability of the club within BASCOL.
